MOUNT PLEASANT - A newly formed committee tasked with advocating the needs of East Cooper schools will hold its first meeting Wednesday.
Mayor Linda Page appointed a special committee to evaluate issues of crowding in the town's public schools. Members of Town Council as well as several school board members have acknowledged that some of Mount Pleasant's schools are crowded, and that a new high school and an elementary school are likely needed.
The new committee will provide recommendations to council, which will then approve a set of recommendations to the school district.
The Blue Ribbon Committee of Council on Education will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Municipal Complex Building A-Public Meeting Room 1 at 100 Ann Edwards Lane in Mount Pleasant.
