Eleven people were killed statewide in weekend wrecks, preliminary reports show.

The S.C. Department of Public Safety reported 199 people killed statewide in fatal wrecks between Jan. 1 and April 13. In 2013, 202 deaths were reported during the same time period, state officials said.

According to the state Department of Public Safety, nine of the eleven deaths reported between Friday and Sunday occurred on U.S., state and secondary roads, with the remaining two fatalities occurring on an interstate.
Three of the people killed were pedestrians, authorities said.
The deaths brought this year's total traffic fatalities to 199, compared with 202 highway deaths reported this time last year, officials said.
Of this year's deaths, 10 were reported in Charleston County, five in Berkeley County and four in Dorchester County, Public Safety numbers show.
According to Public Safety officials, 83 people had access to seat belts but were not wearing them when the fatal wrecks occurred.
