A Charleston woman died Saturday night after she was struck by an SUV on S.C. Highway 162 in Hollywood, authorities said.
Crystal Jackson, 34, died at the scene of blunt force injuries, Charleston County Deputy Coroner Kim Rhoton said.
The woman was walking westbound in the eastbound lane of the highway near Towles Road at about 11 p.m. when she was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer, Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson said.
Watson said the Blazer was also travelling westbound in the eastbound lane as it attempted to pass another vehicle. The sheriff's and coroner's offices are investigating the incident.
