OPP, Ala. -- Stay away from the south Alabama town of Opp this weekend if you're afraid of snakes.
The city is holding its 54th Rattlesnake Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday.
There are rattlesnake demonstrations and rattlesnake races, plus all sorts of products featuring snake skin and images. And concession stand workers will cook about 200 pounds of fried rattlesnake to eat.
Event coordinator Don Childre says as many as 15,000 people attend each day.
The town held its first rattlesnake rodeo at the urging of a businessman who put on shows at a local restaurant with bears, bobcats and other animals.
The rodeo grew in popularity and size, and a handful of hunters capture the reptiles each year.
