The South Carolina Stingrays (42-23-2-4) wrapped up the regular-season series against the Greenville Road Warriors (39-24-2-4) with a 3-2 win in a shootout at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Tuesday night.

The Stingrays finished the series with a 9-5-0-2 record.

Stingrays defenseman Kevin Ryan kicked off the scoring six minutes into the second period, netting his first professional goal by beating Road Warriors goaltender Jeff Malcolm (SOL, 27 saves on 29 shots) under the blocker with a wrist shot from the right-wing point. Forward Brett Gensler grabbed the lone assist.

Rookie Stephan Vigier made it a 2-0 Stingrays lead with a power-play marker at 8:01 from forward Wayne Simpson and defenseman Brendan Ellis. Less than a minute later, the Road Warriors cut the advantage in half when forward Michael St. Croix slipped a shot under the stick of Stingrays netminder Pheonix Copley (W, 34 saves on 36).

Late in the stanza, forward Andrew Yogan evened the contest and eventually forced overtime and the shootout, rifling a shot over the glove of Copley and off the post from the left-wing circle at 18:13.

After the extra session, Stingrays forward Wayne Simpson scored his team-leading sixth shootout goal and the only marker of the skills competition to seal the victory for the Stingrays. The Stingrays finished the game 1-for-2 on the power play, while the Road Warriors went 0-for-3.
