Last month, FIG's General Manager and Beverage Director David McCarus parted ways with the restaurant that received a nomination for the James Beard Foundation's Outstanding Wine Service award on his watch.
McCarus did not return messages seeking comment.
"We wish David all the best in his future endeavors, and thank him for the contributions he's made to the James Beard Foundation Award-nominated wine program" managing partner Adam Nemirow said in a statement announcing the departure. The statement did not offer an explanation for McCarus' move, which stunned the local food-and-beverage community.
Nemirow will serve as the restaurant's general manager on an interim basis.
No word yet on where McCarus is headed next, but my money's on Washington, D.C.
