People who are unemployed, underemployed or transitioning to new jobs are invited to attend a free upcoming ReStart Career Conference.
ReStart will be from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Seacoast Church's Mount Pleasant campus. It is free and open to the public.
Past ReStart conferences have attracted 200 or more people. This Saturday's schedule tackles such issues as managing change, writing resumes, creating support systems, interviewing and job searching strategies.
Most unemployed workers don't receive job-hunting help from previous employers and cannot afford to pay for it themselves. After the recent economic downturn, volunteers formed ReStart to provide free skills and networking opportunities through a Christian ministry.
ReStart operates under the Seacoast Church umbrella and meets at its Mount Pleasant campus. However, participants to not need to be a member of any church to attend.
The ReStart Career Development Community aims to teach ways to find employment, help people develop a broad network to help find employment and assist others experiencing the trauma of job loss. The event needs volunteers as well.
ReStart events usually fill up, so registration is encouraged. Go to http://restartsc.org or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
