TAYLORS, S.C. -- State officials say they have shut down an illegal day care at a home in Taylors.
The Department of Social Services said Thursday that Tracey Garrett and was watching 10 children at her home and was not registered with their agency.
Authorities say Garrett is the sister of a woman arrested last month after a baby was found unresponsive at the home day care she was running.
Pamela Wood was registered with state officials to watch six children, but authorities found nearly two-dozen in her care. Authorities also found a loaded gun, alcohol and cleaning products in areas accessible to children.
Wood faces charges including child neglect. The 3-month-old child later died, and her parents are now helping push legislation to tighten child care regulations.
