Charleston's own Darius Rucker, famed as a country artist and lead singer of Hootie & The Blowfish, will sing the national anthem at the NCAA basketball national championship game Monday night.
The game is set for 9:10 p.m. Monday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will be televised by CBS.
Rucker will be accompanied by the Booker T. Washington High School for the Performing and Visual Arts "Jazz Singers" from Dallas.
"My family, friends and fans know much I love sports, so when I received the invitation to perform at one of the biggest sporting events of the year, I was honored to accept," said Rucker, who graduated from Middleton High School in Charleston and from the University of South Carolina.
