COLUMBIA, S.C. - The Children's Trust of South Carolina is celebrating three decades of working to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Chief Executive Officer Sue Williams says the group is attempting to bring attention to Child Abuse Prevention Month in April by gathering at the Statehouse Thursday at noon with advocates and professionals who work to support children.
Gov. Nikki Haley is expected to recognize the organization's anniversary and child abuse prevention month with proclamations about the events.
Williams says the trust needs citizens' support as it trains professionals to work with children and support programs that strengthen families.
The group is also joining in a national campaign by Prevent Child Abuse America that distributes pinwheels as a reminder every child deserves to thrive in a healthy, nurturing environment.
