Charleston Southern 3, Coastal Carolina 1

MYRTLE BEACH - Charleston Southern starter Levi Mauldin gave up one earned run in 51/3 innings of work and Austin Weekley picked up his sixth save of the season as the Buccaneers shut down Coastal Carolina (11-16, 3-5 Big South) at Pelicans Park.

Senior Alex Tomasovich extended his nation's-best hitting streak to 22 games with a single in the fifth inning. He finished 1 for 5.

Mauldin (3-1) took a shutout into the sixth inning and Tyler Weekley recorded the final two outs of the sixth to get the Bucs (16-13, 2-6) out of a bases-loaded jam.

Reliever Joe Pistacchio worked a scoreless eighth, again working out of a bases-packed jam. Weekley worked a perfect ninth to move within two of his own school record in saves in a season.

The Bucs pieced together enough offense to squeeze a win out of the evening, despite being outhit, 10-7.

Nick Berry finished 2 for 4 for CSU, while Tyler Chadwick was 2 for 4 with an RBI to lead Coastal.
