Greenville - South Carolina kicked off a five-game road trip with a 2-1 loss to Greenville at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena on Sunday afternoon.
The Stingrays fell to 39-22-2-4, while the Road Warriors improved to 38-23-2-3.
The Road Warriors opened the scoring at 4:06 of the first period when forward Josh Nicholls knocked in a bouncing puck past Stingrays goaltender Allen York (27 saves on 29 shots) for a shorthanded tally.
Forward Jordie Johnston gave the Road Warriors a 2-0 lead with a power-play marker 5:17 into the second period.
Rookie Stephan Vigier put the Stingrays on the scoreboard while on the man advantage, slipping a deflected shot around Road Warriors netminder Jeff Malcolm (29 saves on 30 shots) at 12:00. Defenseman Dylan King picked up the lone assist.
In the third period, the Stingrays rifled 10 shots towards Malcolm, but could not find the game-tying score.
The Stingrays finished the contest 1 for 6 on the power play, while the Road Warriors went 1 for 5.
The Stingrays travel to Estero, Fla., to battle the Florida Everblades on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Germain Arena.
