The body of a boy was found early Saturday morning in the rubble of a Georgetown County mobile home fire, officials reported.
The Coroner's Office identified the boy as Dave S. Coombs, 12, of James Drive in Andrews.
The State Law Enforcement Division and the Sheriff's Office are investigating his death.
The cause of death has not been determined. An autopsy is scheduled Sunday at the Medical University of South Carolina, the Coroner's Office said.
The boy left home Friday night to attend a birthday party. His mother could not reach him by phone, the Sheriff's Office said.
At about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, the Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a fire at the mobile home where the family used to live.
Relatives told investigators that the family had recently moved to another home. Unknown to the family, Coombs had returned to the mobile home instead of the new residence, the Sheriff's Office said.
