Mount Pleasant police are investigating a report of animal cruelty after a cat was found to have air-gun pellet lodged in its abdomen.
A woman, who is also a veterinarian, reported to police that her cat "Calhoun" had been shot March 22. The shooting occurred on Groves Manor Court, according to a report.
The woman performed an X-ray and found a pellet in the cat's abdomen, police said. The pellet was removed and turned over to police.
To woman told police that neighborhood children are often seen walking the area with BB guns.
The incident remains under investigation, police said.
