CLINTON, S.C. -- Authorities say skeletal remains found near a firing range in Laurens County are a 22-year-old woman missing from Clinton for more than seven years.
Clinton Public Safety Chief Robin Morse says a crew cutting brush near shooting range found the remains Tuesday afternoon.
The coroner's office determined the remains are from Samantha Renee Smith. She was last seen by her boyfriend in November 2006.
A cause of death was not released and sheriff's deputies are working with the coroner and the State Law Enforcement Division to determine what happened to Smith.
Sheriff's Lt. Judy Stiles says the remains were found on the property of the Clinton Public Safety Shooting Range, which is owned by the city of Clinton.
