We didn't get a whole lot of entries for this week's "Lowcountry oyster traditions" assignment, but we did find a few pearls.
Our editors especially liked Mike Judson's picture from his favorite annual oyster roast. Grab a copy of Friday's People section to read what the editors liked about it the most.
Now for the new and exciting part: We're taking a bit of a different tack with the weekly photo "assignment" themes from now through mid-June to focus on Lowcountry life and scenes.
Every year The Post and Courier publishes a guide to the Lowcountry called My Charleston. For the next edition, which publishes Aug. 30, we want it to include photos taken by our readers. To that end, the weekly photo themes for the next several weeks will concentrate on everything Lowcountry.
We'll still have an editors' pick every week but with your permission, the cream of the crop could become part of the magazine or even its glossy cover photo.
For our first My Charleston photo assignment, we've chosen "Architectural Beauty."
- Send just one (1) photograph to email@example.com by noon on Tuesday, April 1. Include your name, town and where the photo was taken. If you send us multiple photos we will select one randomly.
- If you want your photo to be eligible to run in the newspaper, it must be at least 1,500 pixels. Our editors will select which photo will appear each week. We reserve the right to not publish any photo for any reason.
- We will allow photographs with reasonable watermarks to run in the gallery but for the winning photo that runs in the newspaper we must have a photo that does not have a watermark. If you want to send us one with the watermark (to run online) and one without (to possibly run in the newspaper) please feel free.
