A registered sex offender was arrested again Wednesday after a 26-year-old Ladson woman reported another offense.
James Mercado Enriquez, 42, of Spring Meadows Drive in Summerville was charged with indecent exposure, communicating obscene messages and third-degree assault and battery.
Mercado was previously arrested in September 1990 for molesting a 14-year-old girl and charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to the State Law Enforcement Division's registered sex offender list. He served a year behind bars and was released.
The Ladson woman met Enriquez the afternoon of March 6 in the Summerville PetSmart parking lot, according to the incident report. They started talking about cats and Enriquez offered her a secretarial job with his fiber optics company. He convinced her to let him ride in her car to a West Ashley Fed Ex to finalize paperwork for the job.
Enriquez said a business partner was also supposed to show up, and they waited in the car about 30 minutes, according to the report. The woman said she didn't want to wait any longer and would drive Enriquez back to his car in Summerville.
On the way back to the man's car, he started rubbing himself and talking about sex and eventually exposed himself, according to the report. The woman told deputies he also insisted on showing her sex pictures on his cell phone.
The woman contacted the Summerville police department, who forwarded the case to Charleston County. The woman identified Enriquez from a photo lineup, according to the report, and he was arrested Wednesday morning.
He was being held in the Charleston County jail on $102,130 bail.
