The Artisan Meat Share operated by chef Craig Deihl of Cypress has its first brick-and-mortar storefront in the works.

For the past five years, Deihl has sold seasonal packages of select meats and charcuterie from the upscale East Bay Street restaurant. After three years searching for the right space, Deihl now plans to move the operation into a 1,056-square-foot space at 33 Spring St. on the peninsula

The butcher shop, which Deihl expects will operate under the Artisan Meat Share name, will include a made-to-order sandwich counter where customers can also purchase gourmet deli cuts, locally procured meats and charcuterie.

The concept is grinding its way through the city's approval process. A firm opening date has not been set.
