The Charleston RiverDogs are at it again. For their 2014 home schedule at Riley Park, the Class A South Atlantic League baseball team that produced Silent Night and Nobody Night offers lots of fireworks, discount deals, more bobbleheads and "Terrible Tuesday."
That's right, on June 24 the Riverdogs promise "long lines, terrible in-game entertainment and promotions, and the worst music you'll hear at a ballgame all year." In other words, "Unsatisfaction Guaranteed."
But Bill Murray T-Shirt Night is back (April 12).
And this year's three bobblehead giveaways include Tony the Peanut Man Singing Bobblehead Night (May 10), Ghostbusters Bobblehead Night (July 5) and Bill Veeck Bobble Night (July 19).
The popular Negro League jersey giveaway is set for June 7.
The RiverDogs start with Opening Night on April 7 against the Greenville Drive. Festivities include free magnet schedules and postgame fireworks.
"As our fans have come to expect, we have a fun-filled slate of promotions and theme-nights," RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols said. "There will never be a dull moment at the ballpark this year."
The lineup from April through August:
April 7: Opening Night. Magnet schedule giveway, plus a fireworks show.
May 31: Sweetright Brothers. Muppet-like characters will be on hand.
June 1: Luau Night. Including a performance by the Fire Circus (Luau-themed fire dancers).
June 20: Zombie Apocalypse Night. Fans are encouraged to dress as zombies.
July 4: Independence Day Fireworks Celebration.
July 16: Holiday Celebration. Celebrating a year's worth of holidays in just one night. Each inning will be a different holiday, from New Year's Eve during pregame to Christmas in the 9th inning.
July 20: Pirates & Princess Night. Complete with The Joe's hidden treasure.
August 2: Inflatamaniacs Appearance and Rainbows Night. An inflatable crew joins a throwback tribute to the Charleston Rainbows, including the RiverDogs in 1980s style uniforms worn by the Charleston franchise at College Park.
Mondays: Dogs with a Cause and $1 Dogs and Beers. The RiverDogs partner with a local non-profit organization to generate exposure and funds for a specific cause.
Tuesdays: Two-for-$20 Date Nights. For $20 fans can enjoy a pair of upper reserve tickets, two tacos, two small fountain drinks and a plate of nachos by showing their Harris Teeter VIC card at the box office.
Wednesdays: Guaranteed Win and Senior Wednesdays. All fans 65 and older arriving before 7 p.m. can eat free - complimentary hot dog, fountain drink and chips. And an early bird special on Wednesday's purchase of a hot dog, fries and a 16-ounce fountain drink for only $6 before 7 p.m. If the RiverDogs don't win Wednesday night home games, your ticket is good for admission to the next Wednesday home game.
Thursdays: Thirsty Thursdays include $1 beers and bands.
Fridays: Postgame Fireworks & Red Shirt Fridays. Fans who wear red to the ballpark receive $1 off their walk-up ticket on ISHPI Red Shirt Fridays. Thanks to ISHPI, fans can then choose to donate that dollar to help benefit two military themed charities.
Saturdays: Giveaways on select Saturdays and Kids Run the Bases.
Sundays: Kids Club Sundays. Free parking and kids eat free as all members of the free RiverDogs Kids Club get a voucher for a free meal upon entering.
