CLEMSON -- Nothing like a little basketball with Sunday brunch.
No. 3 seed Clemson will host No. 2 Illinois Sunday at 11 a.m. in an NIT second-round game at Littlejohn Coliseum, announced late Wednesday night. According to archived schedules, it's the Tigers' second morning tipoff in the four-year tenure of head coach Brad Brownell - in November 2012, Clemson played Marist in an 11:30 a.m. Old Spice Classic consolation game in Orlando.
The Tigers (21-12) defeated Georgia State 78-66 in the first round, while the Fighting Illini (20-14) rallied to win 66-62 at Boston University after trailing by 17 in the first half. Illinois is 3-1 all-time against Clemson.
Clemson gets to host as the higher seed because Illinois' home arena, the State Farm Center, is undergoing renovations.
General admission tickets are available online at ClemsonTigers.com or by calling 1-800-CLEMSON.
There is a baseball game between Florida State and Clemson scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday across the street at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
