More than a dozen students were sent to a hospital after an accident involving a school bus Monday morning in Berkeley County.
The S.C. Highway Patrol said the injuries of the 13 students were unknown, although Berkeley County School District spokeswoman Susan Haire said the injuries were not serious and the students received medical attention as a precaution.
The accident occurred at around 6:30 a.m. on Black Oak Road in Bonneau, near U.S. Highway 52, Haire said.
There were 45 Macedonia Middle and Bonner Elementary school students aboard the bus. It was stopped to pick up children when a pickup truck crashed into the back of the bus, Highway Patrol officials said.
Another bus took the other students to the schools and parents were notified about the accident.
