Stuck by a smelly sewer station

A Post and Courier article about a garbage dump really hit home for me. I live on Highway 162 in Hollywood. There is a sewer pumping station at the end of my property that smells very bad most days.

I have written letters to Hollywood Town Hall and called the Department of Health and Environmental Control. No one will do anything about the smell.

Everything said in the article is the same thing I am fighting.

I have been unable, at times, to grill or have company come over. My walk for the morning paper and for my mail, which comes any time between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., makes me sick and burns my throat. I have smelled this for over seven years.

I am 82 years old, and my life mostly consists of holding a mask over my face when I go outside even to sit on my screened front porch.

I moved into this house 75 years ago. Only in the last seven years have I had to write, call and still get the same answer: "We are working on that."
