MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- There's a lot sand along Myrtle Beach but, as yet, no permanent sand volleyball courts. But local leaders are hoping to change that.
Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce president and CEO Brad Dean raised the issue with the city council on Tuesday, saying the area needs permanent courts.
Dean said permanent sand volleyball courts would help attract a more diverse group of athletes from across the country to the Grand Strand.
He said the chamber will work with the city and Coastal Carolina University to explore bringing sand volleyball courts in the area.
