A woman was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure Tuesday afternoon after she jumped from a second-story apartment to escape a fire in North Charleston, authorities said.
North Charleston firefighters responded to Dorchester Gardens Apartments at 5600 Dorchester Road about 12:30 p.m. and saw smoke but no flames.
There wasn't much damage to the apartment, officials on the scene said.
The woman was taken to the Medical University Hospital as a precaution.
Firefighters said they have not determined a cause.
