A Moncks Corner man is charged with downloading child pornography, according to the South Carolina Attorney General's Office, which is prosecuting the case.
Michael Adam Gilman, 37, was arrested last Tuesday with one count of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
On Nov. 30, 2013 undercover detectives with the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, a member of the Attorney General's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, downloaded a file containing child pornography that was traced back to Gilman's home, authorities said.
Investigators searched Gilman's home on Feb. 25 and seized three computers.
If convicted, Gilman faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.
Gilman was released from custody on March 4 with a $40,000 bail, according to court records.
A judge restricted Gilman from having internet access and ordered him to remain at least two blocks from areas where children may be present, such as daycares, playgrounds and schools.
