Powder Magazine hosts special music concert
A candlelight Colonial-themed chamber concert, "Music in the Time of The Powder Magazine," will be presented inside South Carolina's oldest public building at 6 p.m. today.
The concert features harpist Jacqueline Marshall and flutist Jessica Hull-Dambaugh playing 18th-century works.
Musicians will appear in Colonial attire.
A wine-and-cheese garden reception is planned for 5 p.m. Tickets are $60 for one, $100 for a pair. Limited seating is available and reservations are required. Call 843-722-9350 or visit PowderMag.org. The Powder Magazine is at 79 Cumberland St.
CJO pays tribute to Nina Simone
The Charleston Jazz Orchestra presents the second concert in its sixth season at 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. March 22 at the Charleston Music Hall, 37 John St.
The show, called "Little Girl Blue," is a celebration of the music of Nina Simone.
Tickets are $30-$45. Seniors 65 and older pay $25-$40. Student ticket rates vary. All student and discounted tickets must be purchased in person. On-site box office sales the day of the show begin at noon at the Charleston Music Hall.
