Nine Colleton County students were injured Friday when a pickup truck collided with a school bus, officials said.
Three passengers in the pickup were also transported to Colleton Medical Center, Colleton County fire and rescue chief Barry McRoy said.
None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, he said. Most of the injured children were sitting in the back of the bus, he said.
A call came in at 4:32 p.m. that the public school bus and truck had collided near the intersection of Bells Highway and Dandridge Road, he said. The bus was full of students, he said.
McRoy said the wreck happened at the same time that emergency crews were working two structure fires and a wreck with entrapment on Interstate 95.
Walterboro Public Safety is investigating the wreck.
