A Dorchester County third-grade student was suspended Wednesday morning after showing a tool with blades to students on a bus, District 2 officials said.
The student was on a bus for Fort Dorchester Elementary School, district spokeswoman Pat Raynor said, Another student reported it to the assistant principal when the bus arrived at school, and the tool was confiscated.
A school resource officer investigated, the student was suspended, and other disciplinary actions will be considered., Raynor said.
A district safety official described the device as a Leatherman tool, she said.
"It's a reminder to parents and students that there are serious repercussions for bringing anything that could be used as a weapon," Raynor said.
