UPDATE: Chisolm pleaded guilty in September 2014 to second-degree assault and battery, a lesser charge, Charleston County court records show. He was sentenced to time served.

North Charleston police on Monday arrested a man accused of raping a woman he met through Tagged, a popular social networking application.

Jerimiah Laron Chisolm, 25, of Terry Street in North Charleston, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct in connection with the incident, Charleston County jail records show.

A 22-year-old woman turned to police on Sunday after she said a date with a man she met through Tagged ended in rape.

The woman only knew her attacker by "J-Love," his name on Tagged, police said. The pair exchanged text messages and phone calls before deciding to meet Sunday at his North Charleston apartment, the woman told police.

According to an incident report, the woman only expected to watch a movie and have lunch with the man.

But he began rubbing her leg, the woman reported to police, then he pulled down her pants and raped her in spite of her cries pleading with him to stop.

The woman managed to escape from beneath the man and drove to a friend's house in Summerville, police said. That friend convinced the woman to go to a hospital and call police.

Chisolm was being held at the Charleston County jail Monday in lieu of a $25,000 bail, jail records showed.
