Downtown Mason Preparatory School will break ground Thursday on the first phase of its campus renovation.
Construction should be finished by early 2015 and will include a new classroom building for kindergarten through third grade.
A second phase of construction will include a new student activities center and a renovation of the existing gym into a multi-purpose room. It will reconfigure existing classrooms into larger spaces and create new science and art classrooms.
Mason Prep also is accepting kindergarten students for the first time, and nearly all 36 spots are filled for the 2014-15 school year.
