A gun and a knife were confiscated from two students at Beech Hill Elementary School Wednesday morning.
The students were carrying the weapons in their book bags on a bus, Dorchester County Sheriff's Office Chief Deputy Sam Richardson said.
The school is on S.C. Highway 61, which is called Beech Hill Road in that area, near Legend Oaks.
Another student told a staff member and the students with the weapons were brought to the office and deputies were notified, District 2 spokeswoman Pat Raynor said.
The students were removed from school. Disciplinary measures were not announced Wednesday. The Dorchester County Sheriff's Office was conducting an investigation, Richardson said.
