HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- Hilton Head Island has long been known as where one goes to play golf or tennis. Now there will be a new attraction that's a bit more high tech.
The Island Packet of Hilton Head reports that jetpack riders will soon be able to glide 30 feet over the waterways around the island at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour.
Taylor Whitehead plans to open a company providing the rides in April.
Water is pumped from a hose into a gas-powered jetpack and forced down through an exhaust system, pushing the rider into the air.
Jetpack firms in Florida and California charge between $140 and $190 for an hour in the sky. Whitehead says his prices will be similar.
