Baseball "Idol" contestants step forward.
The Charleston RiverDogs will hold auditions for national anthem singers on Thursday, March 6, from 4-7 p.m. and Wednesday, March 19, from 4-7 p.m., at Riley Park.
The Class A minor league baseball affiliate of the New York Yankees have 70 home dates to fill for the 2014 season, which starts April 7 against the Greenville Drive.
"This is one of our more popular events of our off-season, and reminds us all that the baseball season is fast approaching," said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. "Our national anthem tryouts always draw a large number of talented individuals and groups. We appreciate their interest, and we're looking forward to the tryouts. It is sure to be an exciting event."
Auditions are open to performers of all kinds and ensembles of nine or less. Groups of 10 or more are asked to partake in the RiverDogs Group Anthem Program at riverdogs.com.
This year, everyone is asked to audition regardless of whether they have performed at a game in previous seasons or not. Those interested in auditioning must fill out an audition form that can be found at riverdogs.com. Forms must be filled out and submitted prior to the audition day.
