HILTON HEAD - Amber Campbell topped the 4,000- point mark in her brilliant career as Northwood Academy blasted Hilton Head Prep, 83-16, on Friday night in SCISA basketball.
Campbell entered the game needing 11 points to reach the milestone and tallied 25 in limited playing time as the Chargers improved to 25-5.
She is only the fourth girl in state history to top 4,000 points. Ivory Latta of York (1997-2003) at 4,319 is the state all-time leading scorer. Nancy Derrick of Wardlaw (1994-2000) is second with 4,238 points while Northwood's Ashley Scott (1999-2006) is third with 4,107. Campbell now has 4,014.
Northwood was never threatened. The Chargers led 25-2 after the first quarter and 43-6 at halftime.
Katelyn Powell and Erika Martin added 14 points apiece.
