The winter storm that has dumped ice and snow across most of South Carolina is wreaking havoc on the high school and college sports schedules.
All schools in Charleston, Berkeley and Dorchester counties will remain closed Thursday, meaning all high school athletic events in those school districts are cancelled for the second straight day.
The South Carolina men's basketball game against Vanderbilt originally scheduled for Wednesday night has been rescheduled for Thursday at 4 p.m. at Colonial Life Arena in Columbia.
South Carolina's baseball team has postponed the start of its season, moving Friday's season opener against Bucknell to a Saturday doubleheader in Columbia. The first game will start at noon; the second at 4 p.m.
Charleston Southern has postponed men's and women's basketball games scheduled for Thursday night. The men's game against High Point (N.C.) will be played Monday at 7 p.m. at Millis Center in High Point. The women's game against High Point will be played Monday at 7 p.m. at Charleston Southern.
Also, Charleston's Southern's baseball season opener with Villanova has been moved to a Saturday doubleheader at CSU Ballpark. The first game begins at 1 p.m. with the second game to follow 45 minutes following the completion of the opener.
