A person was rescued from a West Ashley house fire and taken to a hospital Monday night.
The fire broke out shortly before 9:30 p.m. on Menola Avenue. The neighborhood is off Melrose Drive, which comes off Savannah Highway west of I-526.
Fire was coming through the roof when firefighters from St. Andrews and the City of Charleston arrived, Ryan Kunitzer with the Charleston Fire Department said. Charleston County EMS took one person to a hospital, he said.
It's too early to say what caused the fire or the extent of the damage. St. Andrews is handling the investigation, Kunitzer said.
