After several days of warm and sunny weather, ice is back in the local forecast this week.

The National Weather Service, predicting freezing rain around Moncks Corner, Summerville and Walterboro, issued a winter storm watch to take effect late Tuesday through Thursday morning.

Some heavy rain is likely to start Tuesday morning, and the mercury may barely climb above 40 degrees throughout the day. The rain may start freezing Tuesday night.

More freezing rain is possible Wednesday afternoon, according to the Weather Service. It could accumlate, possibly causing damage to power lines and dangerous driving conditions.

Temperatures around Moncks Corner, Summerville and Walterboro are not expected to get above 38 degrees Wednesday.

The outlook is a bit milder along the coast. Charleston is expected to get drenched but not hit with ice or freezing temperatures. Still, the mercury may drop to 37 degrees Tuesday night, which is quite a bit colder than it's been lately.
