Charleston County sheriff's deputies are investigating a Thursday armed robbery of a Johns Island KFC.
Authorities responded to the restaurant at 3864 Savannah Highway around 7:30 p.m., according to an incident report.
Witnesses reported to investigators that two men with guns stormed into the restaurant from a side door and demanded money. An employee walked with the men toward a safe in a back office while another ran from the restaurant and called 911, the report said.
The suspects then fled the store with around $1,800. They dropped some of the cash on the ground as they ran, deputies said.
Both suspects wore gloves and hooded sweatshirts pulled over their heads. One of the men wore a blue baseball cap under his hood, deputies said.
The suspects had not been identified Friday.
