An Indiana man was charged with assault and battery after a woman said she was groped in downtown Charleston.
Michael J. Andrews, 31, of New Palestine, Ind., is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center.
At about 11:25 a.m. Friday, a woman told Charleston police that she was walking on the west side of Coming Street when a man approached her and groped her in the groin area over her clothing, according to the incident report.
The victim described the offender, who was stopped at Duncan and Pitt streets. He was transported to police headquarters, where he was charged with assault and battery.
