With Valentine's Day a week away, the travel guide Fodor's has picked seven of the most romantic getaways in the world.
Smack in the middle of that select group Charleston, where love birds can soak in, among other things, waterfalls?
Fodor's said the Holy City's "pristine gardens, historic ambiance, and laid-back Southern charm make it an ideal romantic getaway."
It recommends a walk through the antebellum South of Broad neighborhood and a meal at Tristan near the City Market.
It also suggests a trek over to East Cooper to Boone Hall Plantation and Gardens and also to Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park, which Fodor's said offers "picture-perfect scenery, complete with waterfalls and views of the Charleston Harbor."
The vistas are indeed spectacular from that vantage point, but the only water that falls in that area is when rain drains from the towering Ravenel Bridge overhead.
