PINEVILLE, Mo. -- A suspect wanted in three states was captured in southwest Missouri after a chase that authorities allege included two car thefts, ramming a sheriff's car and robbing a store.

The 46-year-old man from Pineville, Mo., is wanted in South Carolina, Ohio and Louisiana for charges including burglary, assault and theft of weapons.

He is jailed in McDonald County awaiting charges after a wild chase that began Tuesday near Noel when he refused to pull over for a traffic stop on Missouri 59, The Joplin Globe reported.

Authorities say the car was found abandoned at a home south of the Shady Beach Campground, where a pickup truck was reported stolen. When the pickup was seen headed to Oklahoma, McDonald County Sheriff Mike Hall drove into that state and saw the truck at a convenience store on Highway 10. The suspect fled with Hall chasing, eventually ending up at a dead end on a gravel road. Authorities say the suspect turned around and rammed the sheriff's car, sending it off the road. Two deputies fired at the truck's wheels but it kept going.

A short time later, a report came in of a robbery at The Smoke Shop on Route O on the Missouri side of the state line. Authorities allege the man, armed with a handgun, demanded money, barricaded the store clerk in a bathroom and left with the clerk's car.

Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers then saw the car and chased it into Southwest City, where the suspect was arrested without resistance while he hid behind a house.

He is being held at the McDonald County Jail on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle. The state patrol said charges of robbery, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm, and various traffic violations also were being sought.

Authorities said the man is wanted in South Carolina on charges of forgery, burglary and theft of weapons; in Ohio on a probation violation in drug and assault cases; and in Louisiana on charges of burglary and theft of weapons.
