Charleston County's Greenbelt Bank Board Thursday approved contributing $2.5 million in rural Greenbelt money toward the purchase of 18.7 acres to expand Angel Oak Park on Johns Island, according to Cathy Ruff, the county's Greenbelt program director.
Charleston County Council's Finance Committee will vote on the matter Feb. 20. If it passes, it must be approved by the full council Feb. 25.
The city of Charleston has approved contributing $400,000 toward the $3.3 million property.
The Lowcountry Open Land Trust has until to March 1 to raise the money to purchase the property.
