COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Troopers are looking for a blue Dodge or Chrysler minivan which they think struck and killed a man found on the side of a road in Columbia.
The 33-year-old man's body was found near a hotel on state Highway 555 near Interstate 77 around 8 a.m. Monday. Investigators think he was struck either in the early morning hours Monday or the day before.
Evidence from the scene allowed troopers to determine a 2006 or 2007 Dodge Caravan or Chrysler Town and Country hit the victim.
Richland County Coroner Gary Watts says an autopsy determined the man died from injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle. Watts says the man appears to be homeless and did not release his name because his family has not been notified.
