MARIETTA, Ga. -- Police have detained three people in the search for suspects after a police officer was shot and wounded in Atlanta's northwest suburbs.
Cobb County police say the shooting happened 2:30 a.m. Tuesday near Interstate 285 and Powers Ferry Road.
Cobb police spokesman Mike Bowman tells The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the officer was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
WSB-TV reports that three people were detained late Tuesday morning.
CBS Atlanta reports that one of the three has been taken into custody, and the other two were being questioned by police.
Few other details about the three people were immediately available. Police have been searching for two men and a woman since shortly after the gunfire.
Authorities say the shooting appears to have taken place during a traffic stop.
