A free, family-friendly celebration of science, technology, engineering and mathematics will be held Saturday .
The 2014 Charleston STEM festival will last from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. at Liberty Square Park near the South Carolina Aquarium. Attendees will be able to participate in nearly 40 interactive exhibits and hands-on demonstrations to inspire excitement for science, technology, engineering and mathematics
"Festivals like this bring STEM to the community in a new and exciting ways so the message about the importance of STEM education and the impact of these disciplines in our community can reach a wider audience," said Daren Prevost, regional coordinator with S2TEM Centers SC and a co-chair for the festival.
The aquarium and the Children's Museum of the Lowcountry will offer discounted admission during the event.
