Family Services Inc. will host a free youth financial education summit on Saturday at Charleston Southern University.
Nearly 300 have pre-registered for Money Rocks, and more are expected to attend. The day will begin at 8 a.m. with a community fair for all ages.
The summit will include financial education workshops for 12- to 21-year-olds, with topics on budgeting, saving, proper debit/credit card usage, college financial aid, job interviewing skills and social media etiquette.
A parents-only workshop will cover similar topics that Family Services Inc.'s Homeownership Resource Center teaches throughout the year, such as a "making ends meet" budgeting workshop held monthly.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for free to the participants.
Area businesses and organizations such as BB&T, Provost Academy South Carolina, South Carolina Federal Credit Union,Trident Technical College, Limestone College, National Guard, and Air Force will participate.
