A body was pulled from the water Monday afternoon near the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge.
Officials didn't immediately release an identity.
Several people saw somebody jump from the bridge about 2 p.m., Charleston police spokesman Charles Francis said.
Pedestrians reported seeing the body floating in the water near the aircraft carrier Yorktown at Patriots Point.
Police closed the outside lane of the bridge toward Charleston while the body was recovered from the water. The body was brought to land at Remleys Point.
No other information was immediately available.
