Colleton County sheriff's deputies Friday morning arrested the last of four suspects in a gang-related shootout outside the Ashepoo Grocery gas station near Walterboro.

Charlie Edward Martin, 21, of Mount Olive Road in Green Pond, was wanted on three counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Martin was arrested early Friday in Walterboro, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Amye Stivender said. He is being held at the Colleton County jail pending a bond hearing.

Martin eluded authorities for nearly two months following a Dec. 10 shooting in the Green Pond community just outside Walterboro.

Authorities responded to the Ashepoo Grocery gas station on Ace Basin Parkway shortly after 3 p.m. that day, Stivender said.

Witnesses told deputies that two groups of men had engaged in a shootout in the parking lot, and that at least two people were struck by bullets.

Investigators linked the incident to another shooting that occurred earlier in the day in Walterboro. In that incident, two people suffered gunshot wounds to their legs in the area of Green Pond Highway and Beachwood Road, police reported.

The shootings were gang related, Stivender said.

U.S. marshals and Colleton County deputies previously arrested three suspects who were wanted in connection with the shootings.

Matthew Rashaun Jones, 19, Wesley Grove Road in Cottageville, was arrested Dec. 18 and charged with three counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Raheem Jamal Henderson, 23, of Braly Drive in Summerville, surrendered to sheriff's deputies Dec. 19 on seven counts of attempted murder, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime and felon in possession of a firearm, Stivender said.

Tyrell Jackson, 23, of Savage Street in Walterboro, was arrested Dec. 13 and charged with seven counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commencement of a violent crime.
