A man accused of shooting another man in the face is now in custody, North Charleston police said.
Kevin Antonio Major, 31, of Boston Grill Road in Mount Pleasant, was wanted on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the November shooting.
Lancaster County sheriff's deputies arrested Major on Dec. 20 on multiple assault charges, court records show. He was transferred this week to the Charleston County jail to face charges concerning the shooting.
North Charleston police responded shortly after midnight Nov. 29 to an apartment on Ridgebrook Drive, an incident report states.
Witnesses reported to police that a fight over a soda prompted the shooting. Officers located a 27-year-old man at the scene who was holding a blood-soaked cloth against his right cheek, according to the report. He was transported to Medical University Hospital for treatment, police said.
A witness told police Major fired a gun during the scuffle.
Authorities searched North Village Apartments for a gunman but did not locate one that night.
Major was being held at the Charleston County jail on Friday.
