South Carolina junior forward Aleighsa Welch of Goose Creek has earned a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District 4 basketball team, the organization announced Thursday. She is one of six players now eligible for Academic All-America honors.

Welch leads the SEC and ranks seventh in the nation with a .608 field goal percentage and is South Carolina's second-leading scorer and rebounder. Her 13.7 points per game is 15th best in the SEC, and she is ninth in the league in rebounding at 7.8 per contest.

Welch is already fifth in school history with 302 career offensive rebounds, becoming just the third Gamecock to record at least 100 in multiple seasons. This season, she has led the team in scoring four times, been the top rebounder nine times and posted six double-doubles.
